American ALDES Ventilation introduces the Fresh Air Kit, the industry’s first self regulated fresh air introduction system. The FAK-II and the FAK-MD-II are superior to other fresh air systems in that they have an integrated pressure independent Constant Airflow Regulator (CAR-II) which effectively limits the volume of fresh air introduced to the forced air conditioning or heating system.
The CAR-II is used to control the ventilation supply air to the return side of the furnace, where it is then distributed to the house through the supply duct work. It may be desirable to run the furnace fan continuously, or at a lower speed for ventilation, or to cycle the fan periodically to distribute fresh air. This is advisable especially in the fall and spring seasons, when there is little demand for heating or cooling. Best results are obtained with the furnace fan running on low speed for ventilation, switching to high speed for heating. Contact your local electrician for the necessary relay installation.
When connected to the return air plenum of the forced air system, each Fresh Air Kit (FAK) can be adjusted to one of four cfm settings, preventing over ventilation - which wastes energy, or under ventilation, the accumulation of stale air. Thus ensuring the air pressure is kept at an optimum level for family comfort.
The MD models include a motorized damper, which can be interlocked with the forced air system blower to prevent airflow while the forced air system is not running.
This device is ideal for homes equipped with a continuous duty exhaust fan and a forced air heating system. FAK components include a low pressure drop vent hood, a CAR-II, as well as a take off collar. Insulated duct is recommended to avoid condensation on duct lining.
